Back to School: Flirty

This is the second post in my back to school series, and I think you'll love it! With every new school year comes a fresh start...and hopefully many opportunities to pull off this "flirty" look :)
I can't remember where I was reading this statistic, but I heard it somewhere...hmm. Well anyways, it says that the two things men (or boys, if you're in high school like myself) look for in a woman/girl's face are full lips and big, wideset eyes. So, we'll focus on accentuating those two gorgeous features in this look!

Step 1: Cover underye circles and blemishes with concealer, then set with a light dusting of powder. You want to look flawless yet natural with this look.

Step 2: Apply a light amount of bronzer under your cheekbones and blend with your powder brush so that you appear to have a naturally sun-kissed face. Smile to find the apples of your cheeks and blend a tiny bit of peachy blush from the apples down slightly into the bronzer. You want to look like you just went outside and are naturally flushed.

My favorite bronzer to use is this one from Physician's Formula!

Step 3: Prime your eyelids. I prefer to use Urban Decay's Primer Potion, but any primer (or even a dab of concealer) will work!

Step 4: Spread a light pink matte shadow over your lid and blend into the crease. You want to keep the eyeshadow simple, so using only one shade (plus a matte highlight) will be best.

Step 5: Using a black or brown pencil liner, line only your top lash line. Keep the line very thin so that you can barely tell you're wearing it. Lining your bottom lashline or waterline will close off your eyes and make them seem smaller. Lining the top lash line will make your eyelashes look fuller, which will then compliment those big beautiful eyes! :)

Step 6: Apply a couple coats of mascara to only the top lashes.

Step 7: Take a pink liptick and apply it more thickly than you normally would. Then, take a tissue and blot some of it off. This will give you a natural, DIY lipstain sort of look. *Optional...take a lip pencil one shade lighter than your lipstick and line your lips. They'll look full and gorgeous!!
Step 8: Sweep a small amount of clear gloss over your lips and reapply once or twice throughout the day.

NYX Order!

I'm so excited...
I just ordered one of NYX's eyeshadow trios (which I adore!) and a matte lipstick.
Before I tell you what they are, I have a question: Has the name of a product ever enticed you to buy it? You'll see what I mean...
This trio and lipstick are both called Hippie Chic! I loved the colors, but when I saw the name, I just had to get them! I love all things vintage, and the 60's was a great decade :) here are the products:

I plan to do a review and inspired look as soon as I get them :)

Back to School: Understated

This is the first in a series of looks for back to school. This one will be great if you're in middle school, if you're just beginning to wear makeup, or if you only wear it on certain occasions (such as the first day of school!) I did this look on myself today and it looked very natural.

1. Begin by concealing those under eye circles and blemishes. I use Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer in Beige! An inexpensive concealer you could use is the Physician's Formula 2-in-1.

Then, set your concealer with a pressed powder. I prefer either Maybelline Fit Me or MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium.

2. Prime your eyelids. I use Urban Decay's primer potion, but an inexpensive way to prime your eyes is to spread a little bit of the yellow-toned concealer you use over your lids. This will help your shadows stay all day.
3. Use a light brown/neutral shade of eyeshadow to cover your lid, then blend an eyeshadow one shade darker into your crease. top it off by using your finger to apply a highlight color (I like shimmery highlights!) just underneath your brow.
4. Fill in your eyebrows with an eyeshadow that's slightly lighter than your brows.
5. Smile to find the apples of your cheeks, then apply a peachy or light pink blush. Then blend using whatever's left on your powder brush.
6. Swipe a sheer gloss across your lips.
You'll look gorgeous and completely school-appropriate. People will look at you and say, "Wow, you look pretty!" Instead of, "Wow, your makeup looks pretty!"
A great eyeshadow palette to use for this look would be NYX's Champagne and Caviar palette. I bought mine at Ulta for around $10 I believe. I highly recommend this product if you want to wear natural makeup.

Ulta Haul and Product Review :)

I recently spent $99.99 exactly on makeup at Ulta! I just got some money from working so I decided to treat myself :) I've tried out most of the products, so I'll tell you what they are then give a little review for each one!

1. L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara- I picked this up because I've been eyeing it for awhile. The commercial makes this product pretty much irresistible! I've been using Covergirl Lashblast in the orange tube for a long time, but I decided to switch it up. Though I really want to rave about this new mascara, I can't say that I'm in love with it. For one thing, it's more difficult to remove than Lashblast, which is a definite con for me. It does lengthen your lashes without clumping, and I would definitely recommend it, but I have mixed feelings about this product. I'd have to say I like Lashblast better.

2. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion- Three words: I LOVE IT.

3. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in the color French Fries- I like this product a lot, but I would not use it alone. I recommend applying eyeshadow over it. It will make your eyeshadow pop and will blend more easily.

4. NYX Pencil Liner in Black- this is a fabulous and inexpensive pencil liner. I wore it all day and it's still perfect!

5. NYX Eyeshadow trio in Rock and Roll- This trio is exceptional...I love the colors and the shadows are very pigmented.

6. NYX Eyeshadow Palette for Beautiful Green Eyes- The colors are gorgeous and will make your "emerald eyes" pop!

7. Physician's Formula bronzer powder palette for light skin tones- I adore this product, and it's so cute in the packaging! Works great!

8. Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips for Green Eyes- I love love love this palette! I used it the other day and it worked wonders for my eyes :)

9. NYX Peach Blush- Fantastic product, very pigmented, blends easily.

10. Stila Living the Life in Laguna palette- Haven't tried this yet, but the colors are super fun pinks!

11. Blotting papers- I purchased these for quick fixes once school starts. Everyone should carry these around with them!
